Summer Bearer
This image brings together a collection of observations at Lion's Den Gorge in Grafton, Wisconsin, from a summer hike with my goddaughter, Leanna. The focal point is a spider carrying young on her back. I chose her to predominate to show our eight legged friends have a tender side, since they are usually given a bad rap.
Her legs reach out to the other animals and plants we witnessed - crab spider, Michigan lily, satyr butterfly, caterpillars, berries, dead edelweiss fish and golden backed snipe fly.
